Embarrassing Moment of the Day

My friend Justin and I rode our bikes to Diego’s for a much needed finals break. I got some cinnamon-y horchata. And then I proceeded to somehow toss my glass up into the air. Horchata in my hair, on the table and floor, on my cell phone, and a thoroughly soaked sweater and jeans. I know, I’m pretty classy. But it looked pretty awesome as it was flying up into the air. Now I’ve washed off the sticky, but I keep giggling when I smell my cinnamon hands. Yum.

A Whole Piece of Pie? Yes, please!

Last night I went with some friends to Sammy’s Burgers and Fries. It’s this little hole in the wall in Provo near Center Street and I love it. It was Two for Tuesday, so we got two milkshakes for the price of one. Guys, they stuck a whole piece of raspberry cheesecake in mine. And a whole coconut cupcake in Jessica’s. It was awesome. So many flavors. I hear their sweet potato fries with caramel are also awesome. They have a dark blue wall with a silver tree painted on, a wall of polaroids, and a t-shirt with that tree that says, “My cupcake shakes bring all the boys running to the yard.” Awesome, I know. I’ll be going back for the key lime pie milkshake. And the pumpkin cheesecake. But not until next Tuesday.

M: Maybe

Maybe… I did eat 12 cookies for breakfast the other morning.

Maybe I did skip American Heritage this week.

Maybe I do like Barbie movies.

Maybe I have been wearing the same shirt to bed/relaxing around the house for 3 days now.

Maybe I am excited to go to Ingrid tomorrow. (Maybe is a good song, by the way.)

Maybe I have decided on a Halloween costume. Maybe I haven’t.

Maybe I do glance across at his window when I come into my room.

Maybe I resurrected the Superman backpack today.

Maybe I’m on my 3rd water bottle for the day.

Maybe I’m ready to finally start working out. There is no inspiration like a Mr. Darcy that runs triathlons.

Maybe today is going to be a good day.

E: Eat

All I do is eat. Eat, eat, eat. It’s a wonder I’m not 5 million pounds already. Because there are so many wonderful foods out there that I simply cannot resist, no matter how hard I try.

For example, there is this little shop that sells cuban bread back home, and they also sell doughnuts. When I say doughnuts, I mean the most perfect and fluffy in all the world doughnuts that you must eat at least 5 of. There is no resisting.

I love sweets, but don’t get me wrong, I love my good food too. Cherries, I can eat by the pound. And I have. 3 pounds, to be exact. Watermelon is also good for eating large quantities of. And raspberries? I never can resist. Cold cereal is eaten quite regularly, also.

Oh food. How great you are.

Because Blue Food is Fun Food

Sometimes Tiffany and I get bored. “What’s that?”, you may say. “You? Bored?” Yes. And that is when we start to do things like this.

The benefits are that no one will ever confuse their milk with yours. The bad part of it all is that the German pancake I made yesterday turned out green. Which does not look very appetizing. I don’t know what Dr. Seuss was thinking when he wrote Green Eggs and Ham. I do not like them, Sam I Am.

Banana Oatmeal Pancakes

I found this pancake recipe, and it was amazing. I love it. And besides wanting to share it with everyone, I was too lazy to write it down and knew that I would always be able to find it on my blog. Enjoy.

  • 1 cup uncooked rolled oats
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons dry milk powder
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 banana, mashed

  1. Place the rolled oats into the jar of a blender and blend until the texture resembles coarse flour. Whisk together the blended oats, whole wheat flour, all-purpose flour, brown sugar, dry milk powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a bowl; set aside.
  2. Whisk together the egg, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla. Stir in the mashed banana. Pour the egg mixture into the flour mixture and stir just until moistened. Let the batter stand for 5 minutes.
  3. Heat a lightly oiled griddle over medium-high heat. Drop batter by large spoonfuls onto the griddle, and cook until bubbles form and the edges are dry, about 2 minutes. Flip, and cook until browned on the other side. Repeat with remaining batter.

Just a minute…in May

Watching… Season 3 of The X-Files. Scully and Mulder just keep getting better. I always thought that I wouldn’t enjoy watching the beginning after I saw the ending, especially after Scully and Mulder get it on. But I love it still. Oh, and Batman is on tv right now, so that’s going on too.

Reading… Just finished A Countess Below Stairs by Eva Ibbotson. It wasn’t that good, for the main character was so perfect that she got annoying. I started The Once & Future King again and am currently remembering how wonderful it is.

Listening… Ingrid, of course. Well, Joshua Radin, too. I love their duet, Sky. She & Him has been pretty high on my list too.

Making… Apple muffins. And a mess in the kitchen.

Wanting… An ihome. I am dying without my music every morning. Oh, and a car. It is Friday night and I am stranded at home because my family went camping.

Promising… To clean up the kitchen after I’m done cooking.
