Finals Week

Finals begin today. Which is fine, because I feel ready for them. It has been a very good semester and I will be sad to see it go. I don’t know how next semester is even going to compare. My goal is to make it even better. I can’t wait.

As a rule, finals week always goes out with a bang. April 2009 brought a car wreck. December 2008 brought llamas and car wrecks. April 2008 was all-nighters, The O.C. marathons, and too much food. As for December 2009, Talana is in town and staying with me, so it’s gonna be a good one. Yesterday was amazing, what with church and music and games. Today promises to be just as good. So, if I can catch the bus, I’ll be taking some finals, building some snowmen, eating some hot dogs, caroling at a nursing home, baking banana bread, going to the library, and watching Christmas movies. You are all invited to join me on any of these activities. Documentation will be provided of fun times.

As for the rest of the week, Alexia’s getting married! Kate’s getting in town today and I am going home in just 3 days. I can’t wait to see my family and to finally be warm. Ahhh…Florida. I can hear you calling me. I’m coming.

BORED!

I am bored out of my mind.
This is what happens on Thanksgiving break when all your classes get cancelled, your professors do not assign you any homework, and your next exam isn’t until finals week (December 14).
Seriously?
Seriously.
At least I have work this evening to give me something to do.
And Glee is tonight.
And Thanksgiving tomorrow
(thanks for taking me in, Kenzie and Heather!)
Maybe I should go to the library.
Any good book suggestions?

Stars and Stripes

Renember how I used to blog all the time when I really didn’t have the time? But now it is summer and I possibly have more time, but I am not blogging as much? It is weird, I know. I could lie and tell you that I am about to fix that, but I have committed myself to telling the truth. So, you get what you get. And today, you get some Happy Fourth of July! wishes. Because I love our country. I mean, I have very romantic ideas about traveling, but I can’t believe how amazingly lucky I am to live in America. When I start thinking about it, I wax sentimental and begin to think about the Revolutionary War and Davy Crockett. Or Lewis and Clark and The Declaration of Independence. And then I remember country music, and watermelon and cheeseburgers and hot summer days and Tennessee and running through the sprinkler in the backyard and Star Spangled Banners and millions of other things that are all-American to me. Even though other countries probably enjoy them too, I like to pretend that they are my own. Oh, In-n-Out Burger. Other countries don’t have those. So I will claim them. But for the record, I don’t like firecrackers.

I do love my country.

Here Comes Easter!

Lent starts tomorrow. Are you going to celebrate it? I always joke about what I am going to give up for Lent, but this year I’ve decided, why not? What could possibly be wrong with giving up something for 40 days in an effort to grow closer to God? Absolutely nothing.

Any ideas on what I can give up? I have a few, but I can’t decided.

P.S. If you would like a good explanation of Lent, here is a great article that I found that sums it up nicely.
