Developing Some More Musical Skills

The last Boy played guitar
(and sang and wrote songs and performed at local venues and it was lovely…but I digress)
and for the first time ever I wanted to be able to play guitar.
So I’m determined that when I go home in two weeks for the rest of the summer that I’m going to learn.
Because Matthew (remember him?) is going to teach me. He doesn’t know this.

And then I saw this case today and was inspired by the vision of myself carrying my guitar on my back as I walk around town.
One day, when I can spend £115 on a guitar case, I will be awesome.

Month to Month

May was not kind to me.
I got in a car wreck.
I got dumped by the nicest, nicest Boy I’ve ever met.
I missed the bus on a regular basis.
It snowed on the 23rd.
June has already proved nicer.
I got a cheap plane ticket home.
Window Boy saved me in my dumpy car.
And now he’s fixing it.
What a hero.
I’m maintaining a decent grade in Spanish.
I’ve been running every day and I feel good.
I’m living vicariously through Miss Marzipan’s love life (an nyoung!)
Jakeb found passes to Seven Peaks water park for half price.
And everything is going to be alright.
Did I mention I’m tan?

Some Notes

Dear Frohike,
Isn’t it funny?
I don’t know how I made it to 19 without you.
Fanks for being there when I’m whiny.
And when I’m sad and lonely.
And when I have the mean reds.
And when I have weird dreams that are too inappropriate to share with anyone.
And for every other time that I can tell you anything, even when it’s dumb.
(Especially when it’s dumb.)
And for being the only person who understands me completely musically.
If you were a boy, I’d chase you to the ends of the earth.
Thank goodness you’re not, so I can just have you whenever I want without having to worry about all those complicated emotions.
Come back soon.
Because I miss you.
(And I’m getting the mean reds and you’re so good at keeping them away.)
Love, Mulder

Dear Word Girl,

Really? Japan? It’s so so far!
But not even a whole ocean could change my love for you.
Hurry home with lots of stories to tell me.
My love for you is like a loving river of loving love.
Dear Boy,
Really? No.
I do not want to be your friend.
Today.
Maybe tomorrow.
You are a male siren in all your hot glory. I’m plugging my ears.

Dear 30 Rock,
Thanks for making me laugh out loud last night.
Dear Danielle,
You are amazing.
From Swan Princess to Spanish help to German pancakes.
I need you there for all of it.
Best neighbor ever.
Dearest Michelle,
Our dinner party is going to be the classiest opening event of the Spring season.
I can’t wait.
Dear Utah,
Giving me a ticket was stupid.
I did not cause that wreck!!!!

Dear Legs,
Suck it up.
Walking and bicycling is good for you.
If you behave, I’ll find you a good running trail and maybe take you hiking.
Dear Body,
Thanks for slimming down and tanning so nicely.
You’re looking good these days.
Dear San Francisco,
I’m looking for schools and apartments.
I’ll be back soon.

Dear A Fine Frenzy,

Could you get any better?
I want to be you, Alison Sudol.

Blind Date

Last night, I had my first blind date.

And it was good.

I’ve heard a lot of people complain about an awful blind date, so my advice to them would be to only let someone who knows you really well set you up. Not because I’m an expert or anything. But my brother set me up, and I really don’t think that there is anyone who knows me better. Anyways, he wasn’t going to set me up with a loser, and he certainly knows what I like. So the night was a success.

Fanks, brother. You’re awesome. And maybe your girlfriend isn’t too bad either. Not that I would ever tell you. Because, let’s face it, no one is gonna be good enough.

The Most Random Post Yet. You’ve Been Warned.

Look! An artistic interpretation of how I felt today upon finding out that I had been scheduled wrong, and my appointment was at 3:00 pm, not 4:00 pm like I thought. Like I could have made it to a 3:00 appointment. Idiots.

It is finally warm enough to ride my bike around. The park is pleasantly close and the grass conveniently soft for laying and reading on.

And, he’s back! That boy I was over that it turns out a friend of mine knows. You know, the one from 2 years ago. Nothing dredges up the past like a mutual acquaintance. Or, in this case, a mutual really good friend.

All in all, I’m grateful for trashy novels, like these, whose over the top drama help me realize that I’ve got it good. I mean, I’ve never been forced into an engagement to a man I hated when my true love was the carriage boy. I’ve never had to run off with the carriage boy to California, only to have him shot and killed mere hours after my wedding. And because I hate the character that that all happened too, I’ll also remind myself that my true love never married my arch nemesis to save my reputation from being soiled. After I’d had intimate relations with above mentioned true love. Nope, I’ve got it good.

Ten (or Eleven)Things I Hate About Tuesday

You think it’s pretty, huh? Snow is tricksy like that. I bet you wouldn’t like driving this either.

I am a firm believer in equal opposites.
I think the Universe is, as well, and felt the need to counteract my happy Tuesday of last week.
Stop here if you don’t want me to drag you down into the mire.

1. There is snow.
Everywhere.
Everywhere.
And I had to drive in that nasty stuff.
Please remind me that I love BYU.
Because I hate Utah right now.

2. Even though it is 1 degree out, my room has got to be in the nineties.
Not a lie.

3. The last assignment of the semester (to write a radio script for my advertising class) is hanging over my head.
It’s due at 11:00 am and I haven’t even been able to think of what product I want to write a jingle for.

4. My phone has done nothing but receive calls today.
No texts (to or from) and no phone calls from my end.
I feel lonely, detached, and ready to trade in a few fingers for the returned use of my phone.
(Cell phone, cell phone you’re my heroin…sing along now!)

5. I have been waking up each hour for the past few nights.
No explanation.

6. I feel really fuzzy right now.
Which is mostly synonymous with blue/cloudy/under the weather/Eeyore-like/cranky.

7. I was irresponsible yet again (surprise!) and now plane tickets for Christmas have jumped beyond my price range. And I hate using my credit card.

8. The cute boy I have had a crush on for months has no inclination to ask me out, despite not a few successful and fun interactions.
I am starting to doubt what little feminine charm I thought I possessed.

9. I ate around twenty peanut butter cookies.

10. A certain four year old felt that entertaining her for 4 hours was absolutely necessary, despite the long list that her mother gave me to take care of most certainly proved otherwise. And because I am cranky, I did not appreciate being asked every 5 minutes (not an exaggeration) to provide entertainment.

And because I am cranky, here is another one

11. I was so tired (from being up all night) that I accidentally fell asleep from about 5:00-7:00 pm.
So I’m gonna be up all hours.

Happy post coming tomorrow, so don’t fuss.

A Lesson to All Young Men: Smiles and Doors

Today a young man stopped at the Harold B. Lee Library to open the door for me. Now, I go to BYU, so this is not an unusual occurrence. I can’t remember the last time I had to open the door for myself. {Note: Remember this boys.} But then he smiled. And I fell in love. Now, I don’t know his name or anything else about him, but I want him. I don’t even know if he really was cute. But that smile made him beautiful to me. My new life mission is to find him and marry him.

So, boys, remember to always open the door, and then to give a big, genuine smile. The girl will turn to putty in your hands.

The end.

Would You Rather

Because I love this game, Would you rather be able to eat anything you wanted (with no repercussions. Like it would turn into carrots on the way down.) or have any guy in the world fall for you?

We all know how much I love to eat, so this one was difficult for me. Let me help you out.

Peanut Butter Chocolate Cake

or

Dierks Bentley

It was difficult until I said, “Mulder” to myself.
